Oral surgery involves surgical procedures related to teeth, jaws, and surrounding structures. While we usually think of oral surgery related to removal of teeth, it encompasses many more procedures.
Some of the services offered:
-
Exposure of impacted teeth to allow tooth to erupt on it's own or with the assistance of othodontics. Certain procedures may be performed with the use of the Diode laser
-
Removal of impacted teeth- such as wisdom teeth or supernumerary (extra) teeth.
-
Removal of soft tissue cysts
-
Biposy of soft tisssue
-
Frenectomy - A procedure done on the soft tissue attachment of the tongue or lips to the surrounding oral tissues. For patients who have full or partial ankyloglossia (tongue-tied) this procedure can help improve speech and function. When done on the upper lip (where the attachment extends between the two front teeth) the proceadure can facilitate space closure between the two front teeth and make tooth brushing easier. A frenectomy can also help relieve the pull of the attachment to the gums, related to recession (where gums are pulled down exposing root). This procedure is usually done with the Diode laser.
