Karilyn House, D.D.S.
Dr. House is a Southern California native, growing up in Orange County. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology and her D.D.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. While at U.C.L.A., she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and was active in community service with the Bruin Belles service organization. She also enjoyed helping fellow students as a Peer Health Counselor. Dr. House completed her specialized residency in Advanced Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Southern California and Children's Hospital Los Angeles, receiving the Hugh M. Kopel Annual Award (also known as the “Resident of the Year” Award). Dr. House is also a member of the part-time faculty at U.S.C. supervising the pediatric dentistry residents at CHOC Childrens Hospital.
Dr. House is a board-certified pediatric dentist who scored in the top 3% nationally on the written portion of the examination. She has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years. Dr. House also maintains a conscious sedation permit and is an examiner for the conscious sedation permit licensing exam.
Dr. House has been a Delegate to the California Dental Association House of Delegates, representing the Orange County Dental Society. While a Delegate, she also served on a Reference Committee. Dr. House was also an Alternate Delegate to the American Dental Association House of Delegates, representing the California Dental Association. Dr. House has served many years as the subcommitee chair for the "Committee on the New Dentist" for the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (C.S.P.D.). In this position, she planned and executed the program for the residents and new dentists at the Annual Meeting for C.S.P.D. Dr. House is currently the President of the U.S.C. Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Association. Dr. House maintains membership in the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southern California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Orange County Dental Society, California Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
Dr. House has lectured for various organizations. She has lectured at Grand Rounds at CHOC Children's Hospital and given lectures on the use of the diode LASER in pediatric dentistry for the California Pedodontic Research Conference and the Southern California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She has also lectured for the Dental Board of California in the course to calibrate examiners for the Conscious Sedation and General Anesthesia on-site evaluation. Dr. House also was interviewed on "American Health Journal" about Infant Oral Health. As a new mom, Dr. House has a special interest in this area and has created a booklet on ways to prevent the transmission of decay causing bacteria to infants, as well as setting the groundwork for a lifetime of good oral health. This booklet is available in our office.
Dr. House maintains staff privileges at CHOC Childrens Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Orange, and Western Medical Center, Santa Ana.
In her spare time, Dr. House enjoys knitting and crocheting items for charity, being outdoors, and reading. She and her husband are the proud parents of a baby daugher, Isabella.
